In my previous position as a project coordinator, I had the chance to collaborate closely with an external financial specialist. We were in the process of implementing a new budgeting system, and our internal team did not possess the necessary technical skills for the software required. I started by clearly outlining the project's scope and communicating our objectives and timelines to the expert. This helped establish expectations from the very beginning. Throughout the project, I maintained regular communication with the expert, scheduled frequent meetings, and ensured we were aligned on outstanding tasks, challenges, and progress. At one point, we encountered a major obstacle with data migration. I remained composed, clearly defined the issue, and involved the expert in brainstorming potential solutions. Ultimately, we chose to use a third-party tool, which the expert recommended, effectively resolving the problem. In the end, the project was successful, and it provided me with valuable insights into the advantages of collaborating with external subject matter experts. Not only did we achieve our desired outcomes, but we also gained knowledge from their expertise.
