In my last position as a project manager, there was a moment when I overestimated our team's ability to accelerate a highly desired project. Due to miscalculating the timeline, unavoidable setbacks resulted in the project falling behind schedule. I acknowledge that I may have exerted too much pressure on the team, contributing to this outcome. Initially, I communicated the situation transparently to the stakeholders and negotiated a new, realistic deadline. I then restructured the project plan to ensure that each team member fully understood their responsibilities. This experience imparted two important lessons: the importance of thorough and realistic planning, and the risks associated with overcommitting. Since then, I have applied this knowledge to establish an effective planning process in my projects, consistently factoring in buffer times for unforeseen delays.
