In my previous role as a Project Manager, one significant decision I recall was during an infrastructure upgrade project. At that stage, we had to determine whether to move forward with the upgrade or delay it because of potential risks. Given the lack of historical data or benchmarks since we were working with a new type of infrastructure, I relied on my expertise and the input from my team. I sought external guidance, performed risk assessments, and carefully considered the advantages and disadvantages. Ultimately, I chose to proceed with the upgrade while implementing a comprehensive risk management plan, and I ensured that all stakeholders were informed about the uncertainties and our strategies for mitigation. In the end, we encountered some challenges due to unforeseen compatibility issues. However, thanks to our proactive risk management approach, we managed to resolve the problems efficiently without experiencing significant delays or exceeding our budget. This experience highlighted the critical role of informed decision-making and risk management, even when complete data is not available.
